Church Administration
Being involved with a church means more than simply coming to worship service. Consider becoming involved with one of the following small group programs at Concord Trinity. There's literally something for everybody.
Ad CouncilAccording to The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, the purpose of the Administrative Board is to have general oversight of the administration and programs of the local church. At Concord Trinity the board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:45 p.m. All members of the church are invited to attend and make comments, but only board members are allowed to vote. A typical meeting consists of receiving reports from the standing work area committees and approving programs that the committees may propose. In addition, the Administrative Board must approve the church budget and any changes to the budget during the year.
Finance CommitteeThis committee is comprised of 9 members plus the chairperson of the Administrative Council, Stewardship, and Staff Parish, the Finance Secretary, Lay Leaders, Treasurer and Finance Committee Lay Delegate to Annual Conference. The Finance Committee annually compiles a complete budget for review and adoption by the Administrative Board. They are also responsible, in conjunction with the Stewardship Committee, for implementing plans to raise sufficient income to meet the adopted budget. Finally, this committee administers the funds received as directed by the Administrative Board. The committee meets at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
Lay LeadershipFormerly known as Nominations Committee, this committee strives to enable all members both new and old to employ their talents for God’s service.
Staff/Parish RelationsThe Committee is comprised of nine laypersons plus the Lay Leader and the Lay Delegate to Annual Conference and meets on the second Monday of each month. The Pastors are to be present at each meeting unless they voluntarily excuse themselves.
The Committee cooperates with the District Superintendent and the Bishop in securing clergy leadership, counsels with the pastoral staff regarding the presentation of an effective ministry, and completes annual pastoral evaluations with compensation recommendations made to the Administrative Board, ultimately approved at the Church Conference.
The Committee is also responsible for selection and evaluation of all non-clergy staff positions, reporting to the Administrative Board on recommended staff alterations and annual salary adjustments.
TrusteesThe Board of Trustees consists of nine persons elected by the annual Church Conference. The Trustees are vested with the power and authority to deal with the purchase, sale, mortgage, encumbrance, construction, repairing, remodeling, and maintenance of all property of the church.
The Trustees also handle the acceptance or rejection of any and all conveyances, grants, gifts, donations, legacies, bequests or devises, absolute or in trust, for the use and benefit of the church. The Trustees are amenable to the Administrative Council.
