Missions
The Mission Work Area informs the congregation of the needs of persons in the local, national and worldwide communities and provides opportunities for response. Each month the Missions Team highlights a group in need for special response. It sponsors on-going food drives of non-perishable items, which it shares with those in our immediate area who are less fortunate. This year the Missions Team will partner with others to sponsor quarterly service projects, which will permit a “hands-on” response to issues such as housing, hunger, and poverty.
NurtureThe Nurture Committee supports the spiritual journey of each participant in the Concord Trinity UMC congregation. Nurture focuses on and contacts families who have not been in attendance for Worship or other activities that are offered through the church. The committee sponsors the hospitality table located in the parlor and keeps in contact with our homebound and extended care members by taking flowers and visiting with them during the Lent and Advent season and sending quarterly greeting cards to brighten their day. To address the needs of our congregation and the community, short term programs are offered throughout the year such as a workshop on Medicare Part D and an indoor walking group that meets at 8am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in our new fellowship hall.
Funeral CoordinatorIn times of mourning we have a Funeral Coordinator, Robin Israel, who contacts members of the church to help provide a meal after the memorial service.
Care Team MinistryThis group of dedicated people provides pastoral support. They visit members of our congregation who are homebound or in extended care facilities. They have been trained to assist in giving sacraments of Holy Communion once a quarter. The Care Team also helps with hospital visits on the pastor’s day off or while on vacation. If an emergency arises, you will find them arranging transportation, a meal, or support in some way.
OutreachThe Outreach Committee reaches out into the community to invite people to become a part of the Body of Christ and this congregation. Outreach responds to the final commandment given by Jesus, (Matthew 28:19-20) “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Special EventsSpecial Events helps organize fun fellowship events for our church family. These gatherings include a trivia night, a church picnic, sports teams and other events.
StewardshipOne who takes care of another’s property or goods is a steward. As Christians, we believe that our lives and all which we possess are gifts from God. Thus, we should take care of them as good stewards. In short, stewardship is the use of God-given resources, including our time, our talents, and our treasures, for the accomplishment of God-given goals.
Contact the Chairpersons: Cindy Smuda & Marvin Lutes WorshipThis committee coordinates all functions of the Sunday services: the music, flowers, acolytes, communion elements, and ushers. The mission of this committee is to work with the pastors to create an atmosphere of reverence and spirituality in our service, through the music, flowers, liturgy and scriptures, that will prepare the hearts and minds of those in attendance for the message and individual communion with God.
