Children's Ministries

Jesus called the children over to him and said, “Let the children come to me! …People who are like these children belong to God’s kingdom.” Luke 18:16

Children bring unique and wonderful gifts to the body of Christ, and they are a valued part of the congregation at Concord Trinity UMC.

Programs for children are designed to be inviting, exciting, challenging, and creative as they encourage children to discover what it means to claim the Christian faith for their own! We strive to maintain a balance of opportunities for children to have learning and fellowship time with their peers, while encouraging their integration with the wider church congregation, as well.

Sunday School

Sunday School is held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. During the school year, we’ll be using the brand new United Methodist Curriculum, Rock Solid. It offers lectionary-based Christian learning through storytelling, drama, music, art, puzzles, and much more. Children’s classes are divided by age/grade level from 2 years old through 5th grade. (6th grade begins Confirmation and Youth classes) Each summer, we offer Bible Zone, a program that allows kids to learn through active games and hands-on learning. They’ll discover Bible stories in fresh ways and learn how to extend their faith into the world.

For Our Youngest

The nursery is one of the first places children form feelings and ideas about church. We work to keep the nursery at Concord Trinity a safe, fun, caring place for infants and toddlers. The nursery is located in Room 202. Staffed with trained, paid caregivers, as well as member volunteers, all caregivers and regular volunteers have been certified in our Safe Sanctuary Training. Childcare is available for all three Sunday morning worship services, as well as for committee meetings and most fellowship gatherings.

Children & Worship

Children learn by doing and experiencing, and we encourage families to worship together. Special worship pockets are located just outside the sanctuary doors. Each child is invited to claim one for his/her very own. These pockets contain items to help enhance your child’s worship experience and understanding and are appropriate for ages 3 to 10. We also offer “Kid’s Corner,” a special time during the 11:00 worship service. We all know children learn by doing, and that means feeling included in our full worshipping body. We also recognize that a sermon geared for adult issues doesn’t always have deep meaning for our very young children. . . . Enter: Kid’s Corner!

Children ages 3 through 1st grade are invited to attend Kid’s Corner on the 2nd-5th Sundays of the month. (The first Sunday of the month, children stay in worship so that families may share Holy Communion together.) During the hymn just before the sermon, children may choose to move to room 204 for Kid’s Corner. Together, with caring adults, they will experience the theme of the day’s sermon in kid-friendly ways including music, story time, a special activity, and prayer. Families pick up their children from room 204 when worship has concluded.
