Pastor Mary Weaver

Dear Concord Trinity Family -

Since we announced the news of Pastor Richard's forthcoming departure at the end of June to serve as pastor of Camdenton United Methodist Church, we have been in deep prayer that God would send us a strong spiritual leader to guide us into our next season and help us live out our vision.

Since we have all been struggling the last few days with our constantly changing environment and the challenges presented by the coronavirus, I am very happy to share good news!  We believe our prayers have been answered as we have learned this week that our Bishop plans to appoint The Rev. Mary Weaver to Concord Trinity UMC.

Pastor Mary is a dynamic preacher, with a deep desire to see people grow closer in their relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  She is currently the Associate Pastor at Liberty United Methodist Church and sends the following message to us:

Hello Concord Trinity! My name is Mary Weaver and I am thrilled to be able to serve as your next lead pastor. I am originally from a small farm town in central Illinois called Mason City. I went to seminary at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, before moving to Kansas City in the summer of 2016. I have two beautiful and typical teenage daughters, Laney and Layla, who sometimes scare me with all of their wisdom. Laney will be attending Mizzou in the fall as a freshman, and Layla will be a junior in high school next year. Before being a pastor I was a physical therapist for 17 years where I often worked in geriatrics and wound care.

One of my great passions is to figure out ways to present the good news of the gospel story to people. Not only to congregants-which happens in preaching, during events and in general conversations-but also to those in our community who we haven't been lucky enough to even meet.

I love to do activities outside, read and watch movies, as well as watch my girls in all of their activities. I am not able to do it as much as I'd like, but I love to travel and experience new cultures and food. The most interesting places I have traveled to have been Mozambique, Africa, and Vieques, Puerto Rico, both for mission trips.

I look forward to meeting you and doing ministry alongside of you!

Pastor Mary

Over the course of the next several weeks, you will have an opportunity to celebrate Pastor Richard's ministry, as well as express your appreciation and wish him well in his new ministry.  Throughout the summer, the Staff Parish Relations Committee will be coordinating welcoming opportunities for you to meet Pastor Mary in small group settings as she begins her time in leadership here.

This move becomes official at Annual Conference in June.  Pastor Mary's first Sunday with us will be June 28th.  Please keep Pastor Mary and her family, Pastor Richard, Erin and Sam, and our church in your prayers.

Peace in Christ,

Gale Preston
