As they led Jesus away, they grabbed
Simon, a man from Cyrene, who was coming in from the countryside. They put the cross on his back and made him carry it behind Jesus.
- Luke 23: 26
The bravery and compassion of those
who rush to help in times of great need is something to experience. First responders, neighbors. friends and strangers rush to assist in crises in ways that restore our faith in humanity. At this station, we find the Jesus whose burden was lightened by one who bore the weight of his cross for a while. And we pray for all those who come to help in time of need and ask God for the strength to put ourselves in that place
whenever we have the opportunity.
