Becoming A Healing Church

September 14, 2025

Beneath our restlessness and anxiety is a deeper ache: the longing to be loved and made whole. The good news is that God doesn’t just heal individuals. God forms us into a healing community. A healing church isn’t just a place we go; it’s a people committed to embodying that love in a broken and anxious world.

READ

Matthew 5:14-16; Joshua 24:14-15

You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. People do not light a lamp and put it under the bushel basket; rather, they put it on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your God in heaven.

REFLECT

1. Who in another generation has shaped your faith? A grandparent? A mentor? A child? What does it look like for you to give or receive that gift now?
2. Where are you tempted to hide your wounds rather than invite others to walk with you in them?
3. What walls (fear, judgment, busyness, conflict) exist in your community that keep people from experiencing healing?

RESPOND

1. Each morning or evening, pause for a few minutes and pray, “God, who do you want me to bring your healing to today?” Make note of one concrete thing to do, big or small.
2. Notice someone who may seem withdrawn, anxious, or quietly struggling. Send them a simple text: “I’ve been thinking about you. Want to get together or just chat?” That small gesture can open a door to healing.
3. Invite a person younger or older than you in your life or in your church for a conversation about faith. Ask each other questions, listen to each other's stories, and let mutual wisdom guide you.
