From Longing To Belonging

September 21, 2025

What if church was more than a place to go but a people where everyone belongs? Explore with us how Jesus meets us in our loneliness, tears down the walls that divide, and makes us into a Spirit-shaped community where healing and hope become real.

READ

Ephesians 2:13-22

So Jesus came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near, for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father.

REFLECT

1. Where in your life have you experienced connection without true community? What’s the difference between the two?
2. What walls, spoken or unspoken, do you see within the church that keep people from belonging?
3. What does it mean that as a church we are “built together into a dwelling place for God.” What does it look to live this out more fully?

RESPOND

1. Identify a wall between you and someone else in your church. Ask God to begin dismantling it and pray for courage to take the first step toward forgiveness, conversation, or reconnection.
2. Identify one person or family in your church you don’t know well. Pray for them by name and introduce yourself. Invite them for coffee, lunch, or even just a conversation after worship asking God to draw you closer in love.
3. Commit as a church community to being a “family of families,” where no one walks alone.
