God responds to longing hearts. Hunger and thirst are gifts, but they are also a choice. Distraction, self-sufficiency, unforgiveness are common hindrances to hunger and thirst, but renewal starts with hunger and thirst that will not be satisfied except by the presence of God living intimately in us.

John 7:37-39, 14:15-17
On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.’ ”
REFLECT
1. What do you desire and long for in life? What hinders you for hungering and thirsting for experiencing God more intimately?
2. Have you experienced the Spirit drawing you into deeper intimacy?
3. What does it mean that Jesus promises 'rivers of living water" to flow from us?
RESPOND
1. Identify hindrances and distractions that keep you from desiring greater intimacy with God. Surrender them to God in prayer.
2. Ask the Spirit to draw you deeper into God's presence.
3. Resist the urge to "do" for God before "being" with God. Schedule intentional time daily – not just to pray or ask, but to be with God.
