The Spirit Who Speaks And Moves
June 1, 2025
Hearing God’s voice in the ordinary moments of everyday life is not just about grasping past truths or gaining information but experiencing God's word in the present. The Spirit's voice is relational, not mechanical: God speaks to us as friends, as family, not functionaries. People who walk closely with the Spirit learn the tone and weight of God’s whispers.
READ
1 Corinthians 2:9-12, Joel 2:28-29
Then afterward I will pour out my spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female slaves, in those days I will pour out my spirit.
REFLECT
1. How have you experienced God speaking and communicating directly with you—through Scripture, dreams, impressions, pictures, or others?
2. What hinders you from from listening or holds you back from responding?
3. Have you ever stepped out in obedience to something you perceived the Spirit speak? What happened?
RESPOND
1. Consider keeping a “Spirit journal” to record impressions, nudges, dreams, or scriptures that stand out. Don’t over analyze; just record.
2. God’s voice is never condemning, confusing, or contrary to Scripture. Learn to test impressions through: God’s Word in Scripture, God’s character, God’s people.
3. Welcome the Spirit’s movement and pray, “Holy Spirit, move in my life, in my home, in my church. I won’t resist You.” Stay open to “interruptions”—moments when the Spirit redirects your schedule, attention, or conversations.
