Sacred Spaces, Ordinary Lives

March 1, 2026

Faith is found not only in grand sanctuaries or familiar routines. God often meets us in unexpected places, ordinary moments, and shared journeys with others. This Sunday, we explore how Jesus walks with us even when we don’t recognize him, and we invite us to notice God’s presence in both the everyday and the extraordinary.

READ

Luke 24:13-35

Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him.

REFLECT

1. Where have you experienced God in ordinary, everyday moments rather than formal worship?
2. How have unexpected encounters or people shaped your understanding of God?
3. What common assumptions about faith or sacred spaces might be holding you back from seeing God?

RESPOND

1. Observe and Listen: Spend time in a place of worship or community different from your own. Notice how people connect with God and one another.
2. Share a Meal: Invite someone into your home or join a communal meal, practicing attentiveness and openness, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus.
3. Act on Inspiration: Let your observations inspire a small act of service, kindness, or hospitality in your everyday life.
