The Heart of God: Seeking Us
June 22, 2025
God pursues us through promises that draw us into ever greater intimacy with God, revealing a consistent and tender love that transcends the individual. All of God’s promises can be summarized in one promise echoing throughout all of scripture: "I will be yours and you will be mine.” This isn’t just a promise; it’s a relationship mission statement. It is true belonging.
READ
Genesis 12:1-3, Jeremiah 31:31-34
But this is the covenant that I will make with my people, says the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No longer shall they teach one another or say to each other, “Know the Lord,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
REFLECT
1. Have you ever approached God as a means to an end, rather than as a person who desires relationship with you?
2. Where in your life are you tempted to "bargain" with God instead of trusting God? Do you find yourself placing conditions on obedience, like "I’ll follow if..." or "I’ll trust You when..."?
3. What keeps you from trusting the heart of God toward you? Is there anything in your life that makes you hesitant to believe God desires a relationship with you that is personal and intimate?
RESPOND
1. Pray not only to ask for things, but simply by being with God—listening, worshiping, noticing and enjoying God's presence.
2. Shift from checking spiritual boxes (e.g., “I read my Bible today”) to relational engagement (“God, what are you revealing to me through your Word?”).
3. Join a small group that meets regularly to encourage one another in intimacy with God, heart transformation, and walking in God’s promises.
