Happy When Peace Is Worth The Cost
February 8, 2026
We long for peace, but we’re not sure what to do when relationships are strained, conversations are hard, or the world feels divided. Jesus speaks into this tension and calls peacemakers blessed, not only because peace is costly but because God meets us in the work of healing what’s broken. There's a happiness that comes from courage, love, and the costly work of healing what is broken.
READ
Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
REFLECT
1. Is there a relationship where peace requires courage rather than avoidance?
2. Where in your community do you notice inner conflict, defensiveness, or fear disrupting the work of making peace?
3. Where is God inviting you to resist division or dehumanization and choose reconciliation instead?
RESPOND
1. Name one relationship where peace would cost you something—your pride, your certainty, your comfort. Take a step anyway.
2. Ask God to show you where you confuse peace with avoidance. Each time you feel the urge to protect yourself, pray: “Teach me how to love here.”
3. Choose not to benefit from peace that depends on injustice, silence, or exclusion. Align time, attention, or resources with work that seeks reconciliation across divisions.
