Happy With An Undivided Heart
February 1, 2026
A merciful heart changes how we see people. A pure heart changes how we see God. This week, we explore how true happiness grows from a heart shaped by God’s mercy and freed from competing loves, a heart clear enough to see God and courageous enough to reflect God into the world.
READ
Matthew 5:7-8
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
REFLECT
1. Where do you find hardest to extend mercy? And what fear or wound is shaping that resistance?
2. What competes most for your heart’s loyalty—control, certainty, comfort, or approval?
3. When you encounter public pain, injustice, or violence, what shapes your response—fear and anger, or mercy?
RESPOND
1. Reach out to someone you’ve distanced yourself from where resentment, judgment, or withdrawal has taken hold. Take one step toward mercy: listening, forgiving, or releasing the need to be right.
2. Humanize before you analyze: when facing painful news or social conflict, intentionally pray for the people involved before forming opinions.
3. Practice mercy publicly and privately—refuse dehumanizing language, advocate for restoration, and support systems that allow people to heal rather than be discarded.
