The Spirit Innovates And Breaks Boundaries | Expansive Change

May 24, 2026

On Pentecost, God’s Spirit moves outward—crossing barriers, expanding imagination, and drawing diverse people together in unexpected ways. The miracle of Pentecost was not the erasing of difference, but the Spirit speaking through it, breaking boundaries across cultures, languages, and experiences. Today, the Holy Spirit continues to stretch us beyond fear, comfort, and limitation into a wider vision of God’s kingdom and our place within it.

READ

Acts 2:1-12

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.

REFLECT

1. Where in your life do you most resist risk, change, or uncertainty? What assumptions or comforts make it difficult for you to remain open to people who are different from you?
2. How do you typically respond when God’s movement disrupts your plans, expectations, or routines? How does God’s Spirit challenge your tendency toward comfort, caution, or control?
3. What risks or innovations is God inviting you to embrace in your life, relationships, and community? What does participating courageously in God’s expansive work look like for you and your church?

RESPOND

Holy Spirit, pour Yourself out on us now as You did on Pentecost. Speak through us in ways that cross every barrier of culture, language, and perspective. Empower us to share God’s love and truth beyond our limits. Fill us with boldness, clarity, and compassion to communicate Your heart to all people. Spirit, expand our vision, stretch our love, and lead us beyond what is familiar. Let us be a living testimony of Your reconciled, diverse, and Spirit-filled kingdom.
