The Spirit Matures Us | Connecting Change

May 10, 2026

Feeling disconnected is more common than we admit—even when we’re surrounded by people. This week, we explore how the Holy Spirit grows us from the inside out, shaping emotional and relational maturity that makes real connection possible. God breaks down walls within us and between us, and we experience a deeper kind of community—one rooted not in sameness, but in love, humility, and shared life.

READ

Ephesians 2:14–19

For Christ Jesus is our peace; in his flesh he has made both into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us [...]. So he came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near, for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father.

REFLECT

1. Where in your life do you feel disconnected, even when you’re around others? What emotions are hardest for you to recognize or express honestly?
2. Sometimes the places we struggle to connect are the places God most wants to grow us. Who in your life sees the world differently than you—because of background, culture, or life experience? What assumptions might you be carrying into these relationships?
3. Does your community make it easy for people who are different to belong, or mainly people who are similar? What is the Holy Spirit growing in you and your community so you can connect more meaningfully with people who are not like you?

RESPOND

Holy Spirit, build us into a community that reflects Your kingdom. Break down walls of fear, prejudice, and division. Teach us to see each person as You see them—with dignity, value, and love. Fill our hearts with empathy, compassion, and courage to love across differences. Spirit, unite us in purpose, strengthen our bonds, and make us a living demonstration of heaven’s reconciled people. Let Your presence be tangible among us, changing our interactions and our hearts.
