Jesus and the Ones We Must Become
November 9, 2025
Maturity is often misunderstood as control, knowledge, or social position. Jesus invites a different posture: childlike trust, humility, and openness. The call is not just for children, but for every adult to reengage with wonder, vulnerability, and faith that depends wholly on God. We invite you to join us as we reimagine church as a people shaped by humility and childlike faith.
READ
Matthew 19:13–15
Then children were being brought to Jesus in order that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples spoke sternly to those who brought them, but Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” And he laid his hands on them and went on his way.
REFLECT
1. In what ways have pride, control, or self-protection kept you from approaching God and others with humility, trust, and openness?
2. How does approaching others with a childlike posture—curious, trusting, and playful—transform your relationships, both in the church and beyond?
3. Where is God calling you to surrender control, take relational or spiritual risks, and embrace humility as a pathway to transformation?
RESPOND
1. Identify a situation where you usually assert control or maintain appearances or an area pride, defensiveness, or self-sufficiency. Consciously step back, invite input, and allow God to cultivate childlike trust, openness, and dependence in your heart
2. Engage in a conversation or activity with curiosity and receptivity, seeking to listen and learn without judgment or agenda, asking the Spirit to cultivate wonder and receptivity.
3. Spend time with someone younger than you. Adopting a posture of reciprocal learning and receiving wisdom from them.
