The Habit of Obeying God
February 2, 2025
In every situation we always have the choice of responding in a loving way. This Jesus-like option is usually not the easiest because it is a love that seeks a person's good even when it costs us. How do we love like that?
READ
Colossians 3:12-14
Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
REFLECT
1. Ponder on the truth that God created you for a unique purpose. How does this truth shape how you see yourself?
2. What does it mean that we are made in the image of God?
3. Have you ever experienced someone loving you with a selfless, sacrificial love? How do we love and act in the best interest of others even when it might not be in our best interest?
RESPOND
1. Imagine yourself clothed in God's love. Then imagine the people you encounter throughout your day in the same way.
2. Take time to notice situations in your life when you live out of love rather than out of fear.
3. Seek out every opportunity to live from God's economy of abundance instead of a scarcity mindset.
